Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)
Why should you have an OCT scan?
The incidence of eye diseases, which in some cases can be caused by general medical conditions, increase with age. For those over 40 years of age, it is highly recommended to get a complete eye check on a regular basis. Early detection of signs and symptoms are key to successful treatment. That is why we use OCT camera to capture deeper parts of the eye which can detect early signs of potential diseases. What can it detect?
Many retinal diseases and conditions can be either treated or effectively managed when detected in the early stages. The OCT can help detect Glaucoma, Retinal Detachment, Macular Degeneration and complications from diseases including Diabetes and Hypertension. This quick scan will provide accurate information that will allow for your optometrist to assess the results and keep the scan on file until your next yearly scan. How does it work?
The OCT camera not only takes a high resolution scan of the retina, but also scans tissues behind the retina. In a few minutes you can now have a thorough eye health analysis available in-store.How does it feel?
Your eyes will not be touched, nor will you feel anything! If required, we may put eye drops in your eyes to dilate your pupils. However, the scan will only take a few minutes.Where do we provide it?
